Quick snapshots of Kenosha (plus 1 mini-video)

My family went on a day trip to Kenosha yesterday, so I thought I'd share some photos. We saw the Jelly Belly "factory", the Discovery "Museum", and the Kenosha Public Museum and Art "Museum".
If you sense skepticism toward their titles, you are perceptive. The factory was actually a warehouse. The Discovery Museum was more a single room with some mock dinosaur bones than it was anything else. And half the art at the Public Museum was for sale, so it was really more of a gallery. They were still pretty fun, just a bit self-overstated. (BTW, the Kenosha Public Museum is basically like the Indian and Ice Age sections of the MPM squashed into a mini form. ALL of these things were free, so if you're ever traveling down to Chicago, stop and check Kenosha out.
As for these pics, sorry for the poor quality. I was just snapping at any chance; I didn't bother framing or anything. Then I used a batch conversion tool that kind of speckled the images. The rain didn't help either, but they still give you the basic idea.

Kenosha seemed to have alot of exposed wires.

Downtown Kenosha had a ton of these pre-fab condo structures. I guess it's better then the parking lots plaguing other parts of town, but they had no retail or streect activation. In fact, there was no life at all around them.

This corner reminded me of Uptown Minneapolis:

And here's that mini-video, just a short clip of the trolley approaching. I guess I can't embed into a BBS so a link will have to suffice.

As always, thanks for looking. Talk to you later. emoticon

I love Kenosha. It's a great old town. I think that Chicagoland is ruining its flavor. I'm sad to see old stuff go in Kenosha. Maybe this is the beginning of a massive rebirth of the old city.
